GREAT WORDS

"There is scarcely a man who is not conscious of the benefits which his own mind has received from the performance of single acts of benevolence. How strange that so few of us try a course of the same medicine!"

- John Frederick Boyes

WHAT IS THE BENEVOLENCE COMMUNITY?

"A large problem that we face in our every day life is our lack of motivation. It's hard enough trying to GET motivated, let alone STAYING motivated...

Awhile back, I began a quest. A quest to find the best methods for developing and maintaining ambition. Following a tremendous amount of time, research, surveys, and tests... I discovered something very fascinating to me: the two most powerful techniques for getting motivated and staying motivated are being happy and having a support system.

After realizing this, I thought, "If that's the case, we all have different things that make us the happiest, and I'll never come up with a universal system. Hmmmm..." But then it came to me: "What MAKES us the happiest is not what's important here. It's what mostly KEEPS us happy that matters!" :)

It turns out that what mostly KEEPS us happy for longer periods of time is making others happy. When we make others happy in any way, shape, or form, we become happy too! :) It's in our nature! No matter what it is. Whether it be paying somebody back the money you owed them, or helping them with a small task when they ask for your help, it feels good after you did it, right?!

Furthermore, committing random acts of benevolence makes them happier, resulting in the same effect on YOU as well...

So in a nutshell, I transformed my theory of Benevolent Ambition into The Benevolence Plan, an easy-to-follow system that encourages people to stick to a schedule of random acts of benevolence, or as I call them, "Benevolence Missions." The plan is to commit one random act of benevolence every day, a bigger one every week, and an even bigger one every month.

I built The Benevolence Community to include "Suggested Benevolence Missions" on our front page, and made it my browser's home page so that I can see them when I wake up and go online to check my email each day. The missions change all by themselves so I don't have to maintain the website on a daily basis, and I benevolently made it available to the general public so they can participate in The Benevolence Plan as well, at no charge whatsoever. :)

Find somebody that you see or talk to everyday and stick to the plan together! As I said before, research shows that a support system is the other top method for getting motivated and staying motivated. Now you're using BOTH methods for developing and maintaining ambition; how cool is that?!

I sincerely appreciate your visit to The Benevolence Community, whether you continue following my Benevolence Missions or not. It's my theory of Benevolent Ambition that I'd like you to keep in mind... Whenever you feel like you're lacking motivation, do something nice for somebody out of the goodness of your heart!"
